The Rock Nominated For Major Hollywood Award

Dwayne The Rock Johnson has now been nominated for a major Hollywood award amid his WWE TV absence.

We have now entered Hollywood awards season, with the Golden Globes nominations announced on Monday, December 8.

The Rock has been recognised by the Golden Globe Foundation, nominated in the category of “Best Male Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama” for his performance in The Smashing Machine.

The full list of nominees in this category were:

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson – The Smashing Machine,

Joel Edgerton – Train Dreams,

Oscar Isaac – Frankenstein,

Michael B Jordan – Sinners,

Wagner Moura – The Secret Agent,

Jeremy Allen White – Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere

Emily Blunt also received a nomination for her role in this film, in the category of Best Supporting Actress.

The Smashing Machine follows the life and career of MMA legend Mark Kerr, with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the leading role.

Emily Blunt also received a nomination for her role in this film, in the category of Best Supporting Female Actor Motion Picture.

This dramatic role challenged The Rock both mentally and physically, with the Final Boss putting on 30 pounds of muscle ahead of filming.

The Smashing Machine’s director Benny Safdie was previously honored at the Venice Film Festival, winning the festival’s Silver Lion Best Director award.

We recently received our first look at The Rock in a major upcoming Disney release, with the company dropping a teaser trailer for the live-action Moana movie set to come out in July 2026.
