As expected, The Rock made his return to WWE during tonight’s January 6 episode of Raw – the show’s premiere on Netflix.
UPDATE: Roman Reigns picked up the win over Solo Sikoa in the Tribal Combat match that followed Rock’s appearance tonight.
After the match, Rock came back out to crown Reigns the true Tribal Chief by passing over the symbolic Ula Fala wreath.
After an opening video package and a welcome from Triple H, Rock was the open to the show leading into the Tribal Combat match between Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa.
After sending his thanks to Netflix, Rock acknowledged two specific WWE stars, and both of them may surprise you.
Showing no signs of his heel ‘Final Boss’ persona that he portrayed in the leadup to WrestleMania last year, Rock had pleasant words for both Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns.
Rock praised Rhodes for “carrying this company on his back for the last year”, adding “thank you brother” as Rhodes himself was shown watching on in the crowd.
Rock did throw a little dig in there to reference the feud last year, saying to Cody: “Tell Mama Rhodes that The Rock said hello”.
However, there appeared to be zero animosity between the two.
After his high praise for Cody, the ‘People’s Champion’ had similar words for Roman Reigns, who he hailed as the “Original Tribal Chief”.
Directly following Rock’s promo on WWE Raw is the Tribal Combat match between Reigns and Solo Sikoa to determine the ‘true’ current Tribal Chief.
We’ll keep you posted with the result when the match concludes.
