WWE NXT’s Shawn Michaels has addressed Ricky Saints’ NXT Championship victory at Saturday’s No Mercy premium live event.
Oba Femi’s reign came to an end on September 27, with Ricky Saints pinning him to win the NXT Championship after 17 minutes of action.
Shawn Michaels has now taken to Twitter to share a video of him and the new champion backstage. In the video – which you can view below – Micheals shakes Saints’ hand and offers him some worlds of encouragement.
Congratulating the new champion, Michaels captioned this post:
“Congrats Champ you earned tonight.”
This win ended Oba Femi’s 262 day reign with the gold, with Femy having been champion since January’s New Year’s Evil special.
The NXT Championship is Ricky Saint’s second WWE title, with the former AEW star previously holding the NXT North American Championship for 55 days earlier this year, ahead of losing the gold to current champion Ethan Page.
Page was also in action at No Mercy, defeating Tavion Heights to retain his gold.
