A replacement match has been confirmed for tonight’s August 11 episode of WWE Raw in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada.
Last week, it was announced that tonight’s show would play host to a Women’s World Championship match with Naomi defending her title against IYO SKY.
The match would also determine who would be champion going into WWE Clash In Paris on August 31, where Stephanie Vaquer will challenge for the title, a shot she earned by winning a battle royal at Evolution.
However, just three hours before Raw tonight, WWE announced that the Naomi vs SKY match had been canceled due to Naomi not being medically cleared.
During Raw, IYO SKY was shown talking to General Manager Adam Pearce, saying that she still wanted her championship match.
Pearce told SKY that she will still get that title match when Naomi is cleared, and he’ll let SKY know when he hears any updates about Naomi’s availability.
However, they were then interrupted by Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez, who had plans to persuade Pearce into giving them a title shot of their own.
SKY cut them off, and suggested that she face Perez in a match tonight, which Pearce agreed to.
So, instead of SKY vs Naomi tonight, it’ll be SKY vs Perez.
As of this writing, there are no further details regarding Naomi’s absence besides WWE announcing she’s not medically cleared, so we’ll keep you posted if any updates emerge.
