There has been a major update on the AEW status of Powerhouse Hobbs amid reports of his contract expiring and interest from WWE.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Powerhouse Hobbs’ contract was set to expire on January 15, with him becoming a free agent and expected to sign with WWE.
Hobbs reigned as one third of the AEW Trios Champions alongside Samoa Joe and Katsuyori Shibata in the Opps, with the trio losing their titles to ‘Hangman’ Adam Page and JetSpeed on this week’s Collision show, which was taped on Wednesday prior to Hobbs’ contract expiring.
Many believed that the match, which officially aired tonight, would be Hobbs’ final match in AEW, and there has now been a major update on his status with the company.
AEW has now updated it’s official roster page following Collision showing Hangman and JetSpeed as the new AEW Trios Champions, with Hobbs now being removed from the roster, signifying that he is indeed done with the company.
Hobbs had remained on the roster over the past two days despite his contract expiring due to him technically still reigning as a Trios Champion due to the match not yet airing on television.
Despite rumours of his AEW contract also recently expiring, Chris Jericho remains listed on the AEW roster page even following this change.
