For the first time since revealing himself to be Randy Orton‘s mystery caller and attacking Cody Rhodes on the April 3 episode of WWE SmackDown, Pat McAfee hosted The Pat McAfee Show, and unsurprisingly he had a lot to say about what went down on Friday night.

Further explaining why he’s on a mission to “save the business” with Randy Orton, McAfee also teased that some more things are “cooking” for WrestleMania 42:

“It was a fun time on Friday night letting the world know that yeah, you remember when Randy Orton came on the show at the combine? Remember shortly after that I said I thought the business passed me by. All of a sudden Randy’s on the phone with somebody, motivating, dominating everybody. Oh yeah, maybe it was me telling him, hey bud, my daughter is about to turn three years old. I would like her to be a wrestling fan but I would like wrestling to be what wrestling’s supposed to be, especially at the top of the card six foot five, 275 pounds of perfection from the wrestling gods has been sitting here this whole time.

“And is he on TV all day every day? Absolutely not. He was actually sent home for like six months recently, it’s like what? How is this guy being sent home? So we’re saving the business when Randy wins his 15th world title at Mania, and the future of the business is gonna be led by what the wrestling gods deemed perfection in Randy Orton.

“It was a blast, people got loud. I was just asking, why are we doing this when Randy Orton is around? Anything that doesn’t involve Randy, in my eyes, sh**e. If Randy Orton’s involved, good. Somehow tickets are still available for WrestleMania, just know that we got some things cooking and you’re gonna want to be in Las Vegas.

“It’s gonna be spectacular, it’s gonna be special. Future generations of fans will have to look back on the night that was, in Las Vegas and say, ‘That was the moment, where that goat saved the entire business by becoming 15-time world champion.’ Shout out to Randy Orton, I thank you Randy for doing that.”

McAfee would then address the widespread negativity towards his involvement in Orton and Cody Rhodes’ rivalry among the internet wrestling community, stating that fans “have no idea” that he and Orton’s mission is for the “good of them.”

He said:

“I was asking the wrestling fans this weekend, ‘Hey did you thank Randy Orton yet for what he’s gonna do for the future of wrestling?’ And these IWC dips**ts they have no idea, this for the good of them. They have no idea what they’ve been missing, they have no idea what it’s supposed to look like. Now we change that…

“…The internet wrestling community, they’re not the biggest fans of what happened. They’re pretty upset about it but they’re a part of the problem, they said, yeah this is what it’s supposed to be with all this stuff. Nah let’s show you what it’s supposed to be whenever Randy Orton is at the top of the marquee.”

TKO’s Meddling Casts A Dark Cloud Over One Of WWE’s Most Anticipated Matches

Fans have been wanting a Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes feud ever since the latter returned to WWE at WrestleMania 38, with the built-in history of both they, and their fathers making for a rivalry that practically writes itself.

While all the ingredients were right there for what could have been one of WWE’s most personal main event programs in quite some time, and one fitting to close the show at WrestleMania, WWE have instead shoehorned in a celebrity just because.

According to a new report from the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer, it was TKO Executive Chairman Ari Emanuel who wanted celebrity involvement, with McAfee his first choice.

With the TKO bosses holding the ultimate power, logic and all of Orton and Rhodes’ history has gone out the window in favor of another celebrity who is only there because of their name.

While McAfee showing up would typically be no problem given his association with WWE, the reasoning for the former NFL star being in this particular storyline makes just as little sense as Travis Scott showing up to help John Cena win his 17th world title at WrestleMania 41.
