Overnight Viewership Down For February 5 WWE SmackDown

Despite being the first show after the Royal Rumble, and having an appearance from WWE Hall of Famer Edge heavily promoted, last night’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown on FOX saw a drop in viewership.

The show, which featured a main event segment between Roman Reigns and Edge, brought in an average of 2.126 million viewers, which is down from the 2.294 million average for the go-home show for the Royal Rumble last week.

ShowBuzz Daily also reports that last night’s show brought in a 0.60 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic, which is actually the same rating that the January 29 show brought in last Friday night.

For those curious, below is the hourly breakdown for the show last night, showing a drop in viewers between hour one and hour two.

  • Hour one: 2.144 million
  • Hour two: 2.108 million

This isn’t great news for WWE, especially considering the first episodes of Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown after a pay-per-view, particularly one as big as the Royal Rumble, traditionally see a bump in viewership.

It’s important to note that this is just the overnight viewership figure for the show, with the final overall figure expected to be released earlier next week, which WrestleTalk.com will keep you posted on.
