An NXT star made their WWE SmackDown in-ring debut tonight in tag team action after a backstage appearance last week.
In the women’s locker room on last week’s SmackDown, WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair were confronted by the NXT team of Zaria and NXT Women’s North American Champion & WWE Speed Women’s Champion Sol Ruca.
Zaria and Ruca said they wanted a shot at the championship, and they popped up again this week, talking to SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis about getting that title shot.
However, they were interrupted by Alba Fyre and Chelsea Green, who themselves lost a title match against Bliss and Flair a couple of weeks ago.
Green offered ZaRuca a chance to be in her Secret Hervice since the group is a member down with Piper Niven out injured.
ZaRuca firmly rejected the proposal, and instead set up a match against Fyre and Green for tonight.
This match marks Zaria’s SmackDown debut, although it’s not her main roster debut as she and Ruca were in a four-way Women’s Tag Team Title match at WWE Evolution in July.
Ruca had already had a match on SmackDown as she was part of a singles four-way on the show before the aforementioned Evolution match.
ZaRuca picked up the win, with Ruca pinning Green after a Sol Snatcher.
In another NXT-related SmackDown note, Booker T is back on commentary tonight, filling in for Corey Graves again.
Also, Je’Von Evans was back on SmackDown this week, teaming with Rey Fenix in a win over Los Garza.
