Nikki Bella and WWE WrestleMania 42

The latest update has emerged regarding the status of Nikki Bella for WWE WrestleMania 42 after her recent injury.

Bella suffered an ankle injury during WWE SmackDown on March 27 when she and Brie Bella faced Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair.

There was in-ring brawl after the match with those teams, Bayley and Lyra Valkyria, and the Irresitible Forces, but Nikki had to stay down on the outside of the ring during it while she was checked by the doctor at ringside.

Since then, WWE has provided updates on Raw and SmackDown saying that she’s been rehabbing and recovering, hoping to make it back in time for WrestleMania, where those four teams have a four-way for the Women’s Tag Team Championship on night one on April 18.

However, Bella’s status has remained uncertain and in the latest news, the Wrestling Observer reports that the most recent update as of today is that things are “too close to call” as to whether she’ll be back in time for Mania.

We continue to wish Bella all the best as she recovers and we’ll continue to provide any updates as they emerge throughout the next week.

What Will WWE Do If Nikki Bella Needs Replacing

WWE does have a few options if Nikki Bella isn’t available for WrestleMania 42.

One option would be to draft in a replacement to be Brie Bella’s partner – that way, Brie doesn’t have to miss out on the match. However, there’s been no indication as to who that would be.

Another option is to remove the Bellas from the match completely and go ahead with it as a three-way with the other three teams, or potentially replace them with a different fourth team like Giulia and Kiana James.

There have been rumblings that the Kabuki Warriors could also go in, but that would potentially be at the expense of a match between Asuka and IYO SKY, which  should absolutely have a spot on the card.
