WWE NXT North American Champion Myles Borne has addressed comparisons to Randy Orton, which he has received over the years.
Following the announcement of Borne’s WWE signing in March 2022, many fans pointed out the resemblance between the new signee and The Viper.
Speaking with Denise Salcedo, Borne revealed that this is something that happened long before his WWE signing, stating:
“A lot of people think that the comparisons started just here, that’s actually not true. I remember growing up, people actually stopped me and my mother in public and would ask if I was related to Randy.
“I would just laugh about it, like ‘Why would you think that?’ Me and my mother would just look at each other, ‘That was weird.'”

Borne recalled just before his tryout, thinking a group of men were looking at his mother, before they asked him if he was Randy Orton’s kid.
Noting that his appreciation of Randy Orton has grown with age, Myles Borne continued:
“That was always something that happened. I got signed and then one of my pictures got leaked about being signed, and that just took off.
“It’s cool to be compared to him because he’s such a legend. He is someone who I grew up watching, he inspired me, and he’s one of the reasons I’m here now.
“I wanted to do what he did, I was in such awe of what he did. He’s so good at what he does that at a young age, I had no idea about the in-depth concepts of the business, and the characters and the wrestlers.
“Being compared to him, it was fun, cool, I like it, but it’s also a lot of pressure because in my mind, there’s only one Randy Orton. In my mind, he’s the greatest of all time, he’s the greatest to ever do it.
“It’s cool to have that comparison, but I want to make my own name. I want people to know me as Myles Borne.”

Noting that he and Orton have had conversations about the comparisons before, Borne concluded:
“I like the comparisons, it’s funny to me because me and Randy talk about it, and we’ve joked about it before.
“It’s fun, it’s something that I like, it’s cool for a little bit, but I also want to make sure that I do what I have to do to make my own path so that people remember me and could separate me and Randy and say ‘Yeah Randy is this, and Myles Borne is this.'”
