Having debuted at last month’s AEW Double or Nothing 2026 pay-per-view, an update has emerged on the availability of Mick Foley for Forbidden Door on June 28.
Mick Foley joined Renee Paquette at AEW Double or Nothing, serving as co-host during the Buy In show for the June 28 pay-per-view.
With AEW Forbidden Door taking place on June 28, it has now emerged that Foley will not be in attendance at the show due to separate appearance.
Providing an update to Foley’s status for Forbidden Door, Dave Meltzer addressed the WWE Hall of Famer’s arrangements in a Wrestling Observer Daily Update, writing:
Mick Foley won’t be in San Jose for Forbidden Door as he had a contractual date for a comedy show in Seabrook, NH, that he did attempt to get changed, but was unable to do so.
He has cleared his schedule after San Jose so that he should be available for both Dynamite or PPV shows when needed through September as well as in November and December.
Foley noted to us that in 2025 he was busier and on the road more than any time in his life as a pro wrestler and had booked 2026 pretty solid as well before signing.
With the road to AEW All In stopping off at Redemption on July 26, Tony Khan has previously stated there is a “high likelihood” that Mick Foley will be available for the pay-per-view taking place in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Paquette previously shared her belief that Foley will be “so valuable to so many people” in AEW, reflecting on his history and fandom of professional wrestling.
Value Beyond The Hosting Duties
Mick Foley may be a retired wrestler, but his value goes beyond his capacity as a host in AEW.
With Paquette noting that she is “just pumped for our talent to be able to pick his brain”, there’s the value of Foley in AEW distilled into a single sentence.
Debuting in 1986, Foley has seen it all when it comes to the wrestling scene, not just within his particular niche, but as a broader industry. An internationally travelled star, his in-ring career was supplemented by a turn as a general manager in WWE, with the star bringing his characteristic charm, humor and sense of fun to many of his rivalries.
Beyond that, he is recognized as an intense performer, be it as Mankind or Cactus Jack, both different faces for Foley, as opposed to variations on a single theme.
Having shared a health update in September of last year, the Mick Foley that has now signed with AEW appears to be a healthier star, having lost 99lbs of weight and describing himself as “still walking better than I was 15 years ago”. He may not be rushing to step back into the ring, but it doesn’t rule out the possibility of physical involvement in AEW, should the need emerge.
AEW has a number of stars who have been associated with WWE over the years, and Foley is no exception when it comes to a talent able to share his experience, knowledge and skills with a whole new generation of performers.
