Mascara Dorada has addressed officially joining AEW, following the star signing dual contracts with the company and CMLL.
Mascara Dorada was one of several CMLL stars who signed dual contracts to also join AEW’s roster, with the likes of Persephone, Mistico, Hechicero and most recently Thunder Rosa announcing similar deals.
Speaking with Denise Salcedo, Mascara Dorada stated that it was his dream to be signed to multiple companies at once, saying:
“As you said, I have a dual contract… Now AEW and CMLL are placing their trust in me, and all that’s left to do is give it my all and show the entire audience, everyone, what Mascara Dorada is made of.”

When asked how he felt when he received the opportunity to sign contracts with both companies, Dorada replied:
“Well, it was a huge surprise, since the only wrestler with a dual contract was Hechicero.
“When they told me, I didn’t hesitate for a single second, because this has been a dream of mine since I was a little kid, I always wanted to work for two companies, since there are very few wrestlers in the world who have two, three or four contracts.
“I wanted to be part of that very small group of wrestlers, because for me, it’s a real pleasure to wrestle all over the world. I really like the people in the United States, they’re so enthusiastic.
“As for the people in Mexico, we have a different atmosphere here, since they yell at you, say things to you. It’s really fun to be in this duality, with these two audiences, and, of course, more than anything, facing top-tier wrestlers in both companies.”

AEW has been strengthening its ties with CMLL in recent months. With former AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa announcing an AEW-CMLL dual deal, we could see more AEW stars sign with CMLL soon, like the now-former CMLL World Heavyweight Champion Claudio Castagnoli.
The current Mascara Dorada is the second wrestler to compete as this character, not to be confused with former WWE star Metalik, who originally wrestled as Mascara Dorada prior to his WWE run.
