Mark Henry Says Former WWE Star Should Have Been A Comedian

Hall of Famer Mark Henry has named a former WWE star who he believes would’ve been an even better comedian or actor than he was a wrestler.

A number of wrestlers have made the jump to Hollywood in recent years, with the likes of Dave Bautista, The Rock and John Cena establishing themselves as serious thespians in recent years.

On the flip side, WWE legend Mark Henry believes that a former champion should have been entertaining more than just wrestling fans with his sense of humor.

Speaking with Nailz Knows, Mark Henry highlighted Santino Marella as someone he believes would have succeeded as a mainstream comedian.

Henry said:

“I think that there are people that would have been better actors than wrestlers. Just to name one, I think Santino Marella, they should have made him a comedian.

“He should have just went into comedy because he was funnier than a lot of people that I saw on TV being comics.

“When he played everything that he ever portrayed, he was good. So he could have been versatile.”

Santino Marella has dipped his toes into comedy acting, with small but humorous roles in the Jingle All The Way 2 and Countdown movies in 2014 and 2016 respectively.

Marella is currently signed to TNA Wrestling, where he serves as the on-screen Director of Authority.

With Marella no longer a full-time wrestler – his last match taking place on a December 2025 edition of iMPACT – wrestling fans would love to see the WWE Intercontinental Champion take on more TV and movie roles to keep him on our screens, one way or another.

Also during this interview, Mark Henry named a non-wrestler who he believes belongs in the WWE Hall of Fame, which you can read more about right here.
