A major update has emerged regarding how commercial breaks will work during WWE Raw on Netflix.
For the first time in its history WWE Raw will air on a streaming platform rather than a traditional TV network.
Given the uncharted territory WWE and its fans are in with this move to Netflix, many aspects of WWE’s traditional TV broadcasts have been the subject of speculation, particularly the show’s runtime and how commercial breaks will be implemented.
WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H stated that there will be “less commercial time” on Netflix than fans have been used to, however, now another higher-up in the company has added some interesting new details regarding WWE’s approach.
Speaking to the Sports Business Journal, WWE’s Vice President and line producer Brian Fadem revealed that the volume of commercial breaks will actually differ between markets, with international viewers not seeing the same amount of ad breaks that those in the United States will.
Fadem also suggested that the content international viewers see during breaks would differ, with “exclusive” content being shown:
“While you might go to commercials if you’re in Texas, if you’re in Italy you’re going to see us continue content.”
“You’re going to see the continuation of a match. You’re going to see exclusive interviews with our talent. You might see an exclusive package that will only be viewed on that international level.”
Adding to this, Fightful Select have also reported that international viewers are not expected to have commercial breaks at all on Netflix.
