AJ Lee has addressed competing in her first singles match in over a decade at WWE Elimination Chamber 2026.
Last night’s Elimination Chamber premium live event saw AJ Lee win her first championship in WWE since 2014, when she defeated Becky Lynch for the Women’s Intercontinental Title in front of her adopted home crowd of Chicago.
Not only was the win breaking AJ’s 12 year drought for championship gold, but it also saw her compete in her first singles match since taking on Nikki Bella on the March 16, 2015 episode of WWE Raw.
Speaking with Sam Roberts and Megan Morant on WWE Now, AJ was asked what it was like being back involved in a singles match for the first time since returning to WWE in September last year.
Admitting that the experience was “a little scary”, AJ said:
“It was a little scary, I’m not gonna lie. It was really great to have the Best in the World (CM Punk) in the tag and the best tag teams in the world in another tag and just feel that support, but I was on my own.
“Becky’s no slouch so I knew if I didn’t give it to her I was gonna get my ass handed to me.
It was a little scary, I’m really happy it happened here, because what I needed was a little extra support and Chicago gave me that, so I’m really grateful to Chicago. All my title wins have been here, well most of them.”
