Rapper Lil Yachty has responded to criticism of his and other celebrities’ appearanced on WWE TV as of late.
WWE has seen an influx of celebrity involvement recently with the likes of Yachty, Jelly Roll, Pat McAfee, IShowSpeed and more all getting involved in big WrestleMania storylines.
There has been a notable level of backlash to this from many fans, not necessarily against the individual celebrities involved but just the fact that there are so many of them at once.
A social media user posted an edited version of the WrestleMania poster, which replaced the wrestlers with celebrities, namely the names mentioned above and Tom Brady.
In response to this, Yachty, who appeared on WWE SmackDown this past Friday as the new hype man of sorts for Trick Williams, wrote:
i understand yall upset but don’t try and step on my f**king moment, i’m at the tv screen every monday and friday religiously. i’ve been to more ple’s than most.
i probably know more history than most of yall. who’s to say i don’t deserve to be apart of something i love so dearly?
Williams and Yachty pretty much confirmed on SmackDown that Yachty will be at WrestleMania as Williams challenges Sami Zayn for the United States Championship.
Lil Yachty Is The Right Kind Of Celebrity On WWE TV
When it comes to external people coming onto WWE TV, the complaints are often based on the fact that these people don’t really care about wrestling, they just see it as a fun or beneficial thing to get involved with.
That evidently isn’t the case with Yachty, who, as he pointed out, is a long-time fan and knows plenty about wrestling instead of coming in with no knowledge.
Also, he’s previously said that he had no real interest in actually wrestling and would want to be a manager, which seems to be the case with his new partnership with Trick Williams.
A lot of fans are still wary after the Travis Scott debacle last year, who was supposed to wrestle and then backed out, but it doesn’t seem like there’s any risk of that with Yachty.
However, as noted earlier, a lot of the issue with Yachty isn’t individually towards him anyway – it’s more to do with the high influx of celebrities all at once, which is something WWE needs to be careful about.
