LA Knight has suggested that there were once different plans for he and Brock Lesnar, when asked about his elimination of “The Beast” from the 2026 WWE Royal Rumble.
Weeks before Oba Femi stepped up and challenged Brock Lesnar for a clash of titans at WrestleMania 42, Lesnar was reported to be planned for a one-on-one match with LA Knight at “The Showcase of the Immortals.”
In the eyes of most fans, this seemed to be quite a random matchup considering Lesnar had potential opponents such as Femi and GUNTHER waiting in the wings, however, what did perhaps add some credence to the match happening was the fact that Knight, along with Cody Rhodes, eliminated Lesnar from the 2026 Men’s Royal Rumble Match on January 31.
During his appearance on the latest episode of Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Knight addressed eliminating Lesnar from the Rumble and confirmed that plans involving he and Lesnar did not go the way they were “supposed to.”
Knight said:
“I did (eliminate Brock Lesnar). I’ll tell that story someday, but it feels too new and fresh to me.
“But I’ll just say things went differently than they were supposed to.“
Knight did not elaborate on the specifics of what exactly went differently, with it unclear whether he was alluding to Lesnar’s elimination in the Royal Rumble itself, or potential creative plans involving them both after the event.
LA Knight’s 2026 Could Have Looked A Lot Different Had His Brock Lesnar Program Materialised
While Oba Femi would get to stand across the ring from Lesnar in the WrestleMania 42 Sunday opener, Knight kicked off the weekend’s action by teaming with The Usos against Logan Paul, Austin Theory and IShowSpeed the night prior to that.
Despite WWE now being almost two months removed from the “Grandest Stage of Them All,” Knight has not competed a single time on television since then.
Instead, the former two-time WWE United States Champion has spent the bulk of his time critiquing Jimmy and Jey’s rekindled relationship with their cousin Roman Reigns, something that has not gone unnoticed from “The OTC.”
While Knight could soon be in a position to get a shot at Reigns’ World Heavyweight Championship, it seems more likely that stars such as Oba Femi, Bron Breakker, Seth Rollins and maybe even Jey Uso may get further than he will in the tournament.
Fans will be hoping that Knight may get his long overdue Money in the Bank win when the PLE heads to New Orleans on Sunday, September 6, but again, given his lack of momentum, and other stars such as Femi and Trick Williams rising the ranks in the time since last year’s event, WWE may once again opt against giving “The Mega Star” his mega push.
