Kit Wilson was reborn earlier this year, with a new character, theme and purpose, and has commented on his input with his current persona.
A former NXT Tag Team Champion, Wilson has been in singles competition while his partner, Elton Prince, recovers from surgery, having suffered an injury in May of last year.
Now challenging toxic masculinity in a staggering number of forms on WWE SmackDown, Wilson has recently discussed the creation of his new entrance theme that has reached a level of popularity of its own.
Having guided the creation of the track ‘Man Up‘, Wilson has spoken about the input he has had into his WWE character and the goals he has for its future.
Speaking to The Independent in a recent interview, Wilson noted his role as one-half of the creative process, saying:
“I’m trying to make every single aspect as big as possible, but I’m only one half of the decision-making process
“The company’s got so much input as well, but I think you see how much of an effect it has when it all comes together.
“I’m still trying to create a massive entity.”
Having feuded with Matt Cardona following his official return to the WWE, the former Zack Ryder has since praised Wilson.
A recent poetry-themed segment between Wilson and Oba Femi was also revealed to have a personal story behind it, according to the powerhouse WWE star.
A Creative Success For A WWE Star
On its surface, it could be argued that Kit Wilson was set up to fail with a character that tackles toxic masculinity, a contentious subject at the best of times.
Wilson has, however, embraced the role, driven by the same level of, for lack of a better phrase, kitsch that he and Prince delivered as Pretty Deadly.
Seeing Wilson confront stars with imposing presences, such as Femi and Damian Priest, despite whatever other storylines they may be in at the time, shows the level of confidence that WWE has in the British-born star.
Having seen success as Pretty Deadly, it would have been easy for Wilson to continue with that portrayal as a singles competitor, although he has previously revealed conversations with Triple H ahead of his repackaging as he set out to forge a new persona.
While we may no longer be hearing ‘Yes, boy’ from Wilson, his past is still present in his entrance theme, with a line specifically referencing him as ‘pretty deadly with a tender emotion’.
Recently, on WWE SmackDown, Jelly Roll appeared on Miz TV, only to get into a situation with Wilson, who accused the music star of being ‘fatphobic’ for losing weight.
While it may have been The Miz who ended up being levelled by a punch from Jelly Roll, there’s every possibility we could see Wilson involved in the payoff.
Jelly Roll last competed at SummerSlam in August 2025, teaming with Randy Orton in a loss to Drew McIntyre & Logan Paul.
