Kenny Omega has explained the differences between WWE and AEW, comparing ticket prices and how much wrestling is on each show.
WWE has come under heavy scrutiny as of late for its ticket prices, with a decrease in WrestleMania tickets being sold this year compared to last year being attributed in large part to the pricing.
A few AEW personnel have made mention that AEW’s ticket prices have been lower than those of WWE, and Kenny Omega has now said this is something he’s “very proud” of.
Speaking with CBC News Manitoba, Omega was asked to explain how AEW was different from WWE, saying:
“We’re sort of like the alternative. We’re not quite WWE, and we’re not an indie either. We’re just kind of AEW. What we try to be is the most fun live show that you can watch available to you..
“I do think that for family friendly shows – mostly family friendly – ticket prices absolutely friendly. And we never skimp on the content. You’ll always get a ton of wrestling for your money value.
“I even think we’re getting a double taping in Winnipeg. So you are getting a whole heck of a lot of AEW, and you’re not having to mortgage your first house or sell off your first child.
“And that’s not a knock on any other promotion or anything, it’s just that if you want to check out a television product, see yourself on TV, have fun, see what makes AEW so special, you can do it and you can do it at an affordable price.
“I’m just really glad that if there’s any interest whatsoever, whether it be because you’re a die hard AEW fan, or you just wanna go out and check out a night of wrestling and do something fun with the family or friends, I’m glad that there’s price point options available for all walks of life. That’s one thing that I’m very proud of with AEW.”

Are WWE Ticket Prices A Problem
Of course, if you’re an average fan who just wants to go and see a WWE show, yes, the ticket prices are a problem. But now they might be a problem for WWE too.
There are a few different reasons for the decrease in WrestleMania tickets being sold this year – running the same venue back to back, the creative cooling off, but the main one has been the ticket prices.
WWE’s high ticket prices aren’t a problem when people are paying for them. But when there is a noticeable drop in ticket sales, there is cause for concern.
Compare that with less general enthusiasm about the product, and WWE needs to be very careful about its pricing strategy going forward.
