WWE star Je’von Evans has opened up on the backstage atmosphere at Saturday Night’s Main Event for John Cena’s retirement match.
John Cena’s WWE retirement match took place on December 13 at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington DC, with him submitting to GUNTHER in his final match.
The rest of the show featured a number of WWE NXT stars face off against main roster WWE talent, including Je’von Evans, who teamed with TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater against World Tag Team Champions AJ Styles & Dragon Lee.
Speaking on Going Ringside, Je’von opened up on the backstage atmosphere at the show, and how it was different to normal.
He said:
“So the vibe was different but in a good way, everyone was in great spirits. Of course it was very busy, but everyone was there, everyone was having a great time. It was an honor to be present, it was an honor to experience all that.
“I don’t think it was sad, it was just emotional, because we realised that someone we grew up watching, or watched for a very long time, he’s done, and when he says he’s done in the ring, he means it for sure. I know for a fact it’s over, he’s not stepping in his gear anymore. That’s wraps.”

Je’von is currently being presented as a ‘free agent’ on WWE television, with him seemingly set for a main roster call up soon.
