A big update has emerged on an international star who has been reported as potentially joining WWE in the near future.

Earlier this week, it emerged that former IWGP Heavyweight Champion EVIL could be leaving the promotion with rumors that he may be on his way to WWE.

Today, January 25, NJPW has announced that EVIL is departing the company at the end of the month.

NJPW writes:

Thank you for supporting New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

After careful consideration and discussions with NJPW management, EVIL, who has been a long standing member of the NJPW roster will leave New Japan Pro-Wrestling at the expiry of his contract at the end of January 2026.

We apologise to fans for the sudden nature of this announcement.

New Japan Pro-Wrestling wishes EVIL the very best in his future activities.

EVIL is not expected to join AEW as Tony Khan has been noted as not being a fan of his work, and he hasn’t been part of any NJPW/AEW crossovers during the promotions’ partnership.

We’ll keep you posted with any further details on a potential move to WWE following this confirmation that EVIL is exiting NJPW.
