Next year’s WWE WrestleMania 43 event is set to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and in recent weeks there has been a lot of speculation about what the card could look like for the show.
Since he defeated Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42, Oba Femi called out Roman Reigns to a match for the World Heavyweight Championship, with him doing so once again following WWE Money In The Bank.
On SmackDown, WWE recently teased another encounter between Cody Rhodes and CM Punk, which seemed to be a teaser for a match at WrestleMania 43.
However, in an update from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the plan may not be that simple.
Roman Reigns vs. Oba Femi planned for WrestleMania 43
Oba Femi called out Roman Reigns after WWE WrestleMania 42, and again following WWE Money In The Bank
If you have been paying any attention to WWE television over the past year, it’s become clear that Oba Femi is the next top star in the company, with him even specifically being anointed the next ‘Next Big Thing’ at SummerSlam after retiring Brock Lesnar.
Oba and Roman have yet to have their face off, though Oba has been calling out Roman, largely to deaf ears, over the past few months.
However, in perhaps very unsurprising news, WWE is indeed currently planning for Roman Reigns vs. Oba Femi at WrestleMania 43, with the match likely set to headline night two of the show.
Oba and Roman’s first face off after all this time will be an incredible moment.
Cody Rhodes vs. CM Punk not planned for WrestleMania 43
On the contrary, Dave Meltzer also notes that the recently teased match between Cody Rhodes and CM Punk is not the plan for WrestleMania 43.
After years of teasing the match between the two following CM Punk’s return to WWE in 2023, Punk and Cody faced off for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam, with Punk retaining his title after interference from Randy Orton.
The WWE Championship picture on SmackDown is currently packed with names chasing the belt, and any combination of them could make for a big singles match at WrestleMania.
With the show taking place in Riyadh, it would be nice to see Sami Zayn walk into WrestleMania as the champion, defending the title against Kevin Owens, but any of the currently teased matches would be great.
