GUNTHER has addressed comparisons made between him retiring John Cena and Brock Lesnar ending the Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak.
A lot of fan backlash has erupted over the past few days since John Cena’s WWE retirement match at Saturday Night’s Main Event, with Cena submitting to GUNTHER in his final match.
The result has been compared by many to Brock Lesnar ending the Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak at WrestleMania 30, and GUNTHER has now commented on the comparisons.
Speaking to TMZ Sports, GUNTHER was asked about the comparisons, noting that he believes the situations are similar.
He said:
“I think you can make it because I think back to then it was a similar situation, there was a real outrage about it, and it was the right thing back then because Brock, he’s still in the company, and was the mountain to climb for 10 years now.
“It is a similar situation that also comes with a bit of pressure because at the end of the day what I achieved that night is a gift and it’s up to me to protect that gift and keep it up, and that’s the challenge for me now, and judge me after, how I did.”
