The planned WWE debut match for a former AEW star has seemingly been confirmed after tonight’s Raw on Netflix premiere.

One of the matches promoted for tonight’s show was a tag match with New Day against Rey Mysterio and a mystery partner.

Many fans expected the mystery partner to be former AEW World Tag Team Champion Penta El Zero Miedo after a series of brief/cryptic videos on Raw throughout the past few weeks.

However, that match never took place, with New Day explaining it away in an interview by saying they requested the match to be canceled because the fans in LA didn’t deserve to see them wrestle.

After that interview, another of the cryptic videos played which fully confirmed Penta’s upcoming debut as his name actually appeared on-screen for the first time.

However, it seems like his debut match won’t see him team with Mysterio against New Day after all.

In a later backstage segment during Raw, Chad Gable met with General Manager Adam Pearce and requested a match against the “best luchador” that Pearce can find.

Pearce said he has the perfect person in mind, and a match was officially announced for next week’s Raw between Gable and a mystery luchador.

Naturally, the pieces seem to be in place and now the assumption is that match will be Penta’s debut.

If that wasn’t enough, Triple H seemed to allude to it during the post-match press conference as he was running down the card for next week.

Referencing Gable’s ‘mystery’ opponent, HHH said:

“You’ve probably… you’ve figured it out, right?”

We’ll keep you posted with any further updates on Penta and his WWE plans.
