El Grande Americano has vented his frustration after being left out of the Five-Way Ladder Match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 42.
UPDATE: Penta has now responded to El Grande Americano, writing: “The only ‘disgrace’ is you wearing that mask. EARN your way to Wrestlemania and I might just take it off… c.t.m ….zero miedo.”
After successfully defending his WWE Intercontinental Championship against Kofi Kingston on last week’s March 30 episode of Raw, Penta announced that he would be putting his gold on the line in a Ladder Match.
Commentary then confirmed that JD McDonagh, Dragon Lee, Rusev and Je’Von Evans would be joining Penta in the match after winning qualifying matches on WWE Main Event.
One star who has been in the hunt for Penta’s title lately, but was omitted from the match is El Grande Americano, and now the AAA Rey de Reyes 2026 winner as voiced his dissatisfaction at the decision.
Speaking in a video on WWE’s Twitter, Americano first addressed his people in Spanish, saying:
“What’s up my people? I’m your green, white and red hero El Grande Americano.
“My bad, I gotta speak English because a lot of gringos don’t understand, but I want to tell you that (switches to English) all those luchadores are going to compete at WrestleMania but the greatest one, the biggest legend El Grande Americano is not.
“This match for the Intercontinental Championship is an absolute disgrace without El Grande Americano, and my friends I think somebody should do something about that. Let’s think of something.”
Who Else Could Find Their Way Into WWE Intercontinental Championship Match?
With El Grande Americano perhaps set to find a route onto the WrestleMania 42 card via Penta’s Ladder Match, it begs the question of which other stars could potentially follow suit.
The most obvious answer, if El Grande Americano is set to join the match, then one would imagine The Original El Grande Americano won’t be too far behind.
It seemed as if WWE were going to build towards a Mask vs. Mask Match between the two luchadores at WrestleMania 42, however, that doesn’t seem to be the plan after all.
Including both Americanos in the Ladder Match would be a great way to further their feud and make the Ladder Match line-up feel a lot less random.
Kofi Kingston and Grayson Waller are two more names who have had problems with Penta lately, with Kingston also looking to recruit Je’Von Evans as his new protégé, so perhaps that story could be furthered buy including one or both of them.
Confirmed Matches For April 6 WWE Raw
Ahead of WWE Raw, Adam Pearce took to social media to confirm three new matches for the April 6 episode in Houston, Texas.
JD McDonagh, who will be competing for the Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania, will be taking on former tag team partner Finn Balor one-on-one.
Elsewhere, RHIYO (Rhea Ripley & IYO SKY) will reunite on Raw for a tag team match against Michin & B-Fab and Austin Theory will take on LA Knight.
