A retired multi-time former WCW World Heavyweight Champion has teased hitting his finishing move one more time in WWE or AEW.
Diamond Dallas Page signed a WWE Legends deal in October 2024, having been in attendance at that year’s Bad Blood PLE.
Years after stepping into a WWE ring for the last time at WrestleMania 32 in April 2016, DDP would return in AEW at the January 2020 Bash at the Beach edition of Dynamite.
Teaming with Dustin Rhodes & QT Marshall, DDP would be on the losing side opposite MJF, The Butcher & The Blade.
Retired as an in-ring competitor since then, DDP was asked during an interview with Wrestling Life Online whether he knew he had to step away from the ring after his match in AEW.
In response, DDP said he was well aware of that requirement going into the match, but did insist that he still has a Diamond Cutter in him if a WWE or AEW TV return materialises:
“I knew going in (laughs). I would still go in and hit a Diamond Cutter if it was for one of the big two (companies).
“I would do that just to hear the roar of the crowd because I know it would be the pop of the night. Being able to do that, and have that command with the people is so cool.”

DDP would return to WWE screens to induct Lex Luger into the Hall of Fame in April of last year as part of the Class of 2025.
Enthusiasm Pays Dividends
By the time that DDP made his WCW debut in January 1991, the star was already in his mid-30s, starting a run much later than many of his peers and contemporaries, some of whom having already seen great success elsewhere.
Despite being in an unusual spot of neither being a young up-and-coming star or a seasoned veteran, DDP parlayed his natural charisma, enthusiasm and creativity into huge success in WCW, going on to be a four-time World Tag Team Champion, three-time World Heavyweight Champion, and World Television Champion.
His early run in WWE (then the WWF) may raise eyebrows, being one of the WCW stars to crossover when Vince McMahon bought the company in 2001. Being revealed as the stalker of The Undertaker’s then-wife, Sara, was perhaps not the way that a star the caliber of DDP would be introduced today, although it did lead to a feud with The Phenom.
A former WWF European Champion and Tag Team Champion (with Chris Kanyon), DDP would be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2017.
DDP being able to garner a strong reaction in 2020, having not competed for nearly four years, shows the connection he still has with the fans, and the enthusiasm he has for the business still resonates to this day.
