The former Damien Sandow has opened up about his failed Money in the Bank cash-in, which took place back in 2013.
Now known as Aron Stevens, Damien Sandow was released from his WWE contract in May 2016, having held the Tag Team Championship with The Miz and been the 2013 Money in the Bank winner.
Despite his Mr. Money in the Bank status, Sandow would be better known as the first WWE star to lose a cash-in match, and only the second to fail to cash-in and walk away without a championship.
In a recent interview with Sportshadow, the former Sandow opened about that decision and when he was informed of the plan, saying:
“I was just told, this is what’s going to happen. I wasn’t the happiest guy in the building that day, but we had, I think it was three segments to fill, so I had to put my boots on and go to work.
“I think it was Hunter (Triple H, who told him the plan), if I’m not mistaken.
“I was like, ‘Okay.’ What are you going to say, right? If that’s the decision, what am I going to do, change it? No, I don’t own the company.”

This would all happen at the October 28 episode of WWE Raw, with Sandow targeting John Cena, theorizing that the champion was still feeling the effects of the match at Hell in the Cell the previous night.
Damien Sandow’s Final Run With WWE
One half of The Rhodes Scholars with Cody Rhodes, Sandow would go on to great success with a different associate, in the form of The Miz, impersonating the star and rebranding himself as Damien Mizdow, showcasing his skill as a comedic performer.
Sadly, despite the popularity of the pairing and a Tag Team Championship reign, WrestleMania 31 would mark the end of the relationship, with Sandow going on to form the Meta Powers with Curtis Axel, only for that team to be dissolved in July 2015
Sandow never really recovered in the final year of his WWE tenure, with loss after loss marking his scorecard in 2016, although fans were still eager to see him in the ring, reacting favorable to his presence.
As for the relationship with The Miz, it appears that the pair are still in touch, with Sandow recently discussing his time with the SmackDown star.
