The vast majority of WWE Hall of Fame ceremonies have been their own separate event, but this year, the ceremony was combined with the pre-WrestleMania episode of SmackDown.

One of the reasons for this was the Covid-19 pandemic, and so many expected the ceremony to return to being its own event next year ahead of WrestleMania 39.

However, according to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the current plan for the Hall of Fame ceremony in 2023 is to once again combine it with the pre-WrestleMania episode of SmackDown.

Meltzer wrote:

Raw and Smackdown will both be held that week at the Wells Fargo Center. The belief right now is the Hall of Fame and Smackdown will be combined on April 5, like last year.

Just to avoid confusion, Meltzer is actually referring to earlier this year rather than last year, as last year’s took place at the ThunderDome and was taped a week in advance.

If this is the case, then it could very well be that this will be the tradition going forward. After all, the Hall of Fame ceremony is always the best and most interesting thing about WrestleMania week…
