There has been an update on WWE’s plans for Cody Rhodes after he reportedly suffered a legitimate injury during the closing segment of Elimination Chamber 2025.

In a moment that few would have ever imagined possible, 16-time WWE world champion John Cena turned heel at the end of Elimination Chamber 2025, aligning with The Rock and delivering a brutal attack on Cody Rhodes in front of a stunned crowd at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.

The significance of Cena’s turn has dominated the news in the week that’s followed, however, one unfortunate result of it has reportedly been a legitimate injury to the Undisputed WWE Champion.

Rhodes reportedly suffered a busted eardrum and black eye in the segment, with rapper Travis Scott, who was present for the segment believed to be the cause of the injury, after he struck Rhodes while he was laying on the ground.

As a result of the injury many fans have wondered when we may see Rhodes back on WWE TV, a question answered by SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis ahead of tonight’s show at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia (March 7).

In a video posted to WWE’s Twitter page (see below), Aldis announced that Rhodes would be appearing live on SmackDown in order to address what happened at Elimination Chamber.

Aldis would also announce two matches for tonight’s show, including Braun Strowman vs. Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso vs. Drew McIntyre.
