A big update has emerged on the status of CM Punk vs Roman Reigns at WWE WrestleMania 42 after the match was put at risk.
With CM Punk putting his World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Finn Balor at Elimination Chamber tonight, Balor was looking to spoil things for the Punk vs Reigns Mania main event.
CM Punk Defeats Finn Balor At Elimination Chamber
After Reigns won the Royal Rumble on January 31, he chose to challenge CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania instead of challenging Undisputed WWE Champion Drew McIntyre.
Although Balor was looking to play spoiler, Punk won their match tonight, so his match against Roman Reigns is still intact and set to take place.
Punk scored the win by pinfall after hitting Balor with his Go To Sleep finisher to retain his World Title.
Balor and Punk shook hands after the match.
WWE Elimination Chamber 2026 Results
Elimination Chamber in Punk’s hometown of Chicago has been a happy night for his household, as his wife AJ Lee also won the Women’s Intercontinental Title tonight, defeating Becky Lynch.
Lee came out after Punk’s win to celebrate in the ring with him.
Earlier in the show, Rhea Ripley won the women’s Elimination Chamber match to confirm she will challenge Jade Cargill for the WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania.
Still to take place with the show in progress as of this writing is the men’s Elimination Chamber to determine McIntyre’s WWE Title challenger at Mania between Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, LA Knight, Trick Williams, Je’Von Evans and Logan Paul.
