Chris Jericho Believed To Have Signed New AEW Contract

An update has emerged on the current status of Chris Jericho, following Jericho’s AEW return on this week’s edition of Dynamite.

Following months of speculation, Chris Jericho made his unannounced return to AEW on the April 1 Dynamite episode.

Making his entrance in front of the Winnipeg crowd, the inaugural AEW World Champion took to the mic to simply say “I’m home.”

With Jericho having not wrestled in almost a year, Mike Johnson of PWInsider has shared behind-the-scenes details on Chris Jericho’s WWE return.

Per the report, Jericho was not backstage at Dynamite until right before the show went on the air. He had reportedly been driven to the Canada Live Centre around two minutes before the live broadcast started, and went right to gorilla position for his entrance.

It was also reported that Chris Jericho made the rounds backstage and introduced himself to wrestlers who he didn’t know. He was said to have filmed additional content for the company, and had a photoshoot.

Per PWInsider, the general belief backstage was that Chris Jericho and AEW had came to terms on a new deal.

This belief would be in line with previous reports, which indicated that Jericho’s previous contract with the company expired on December 31, 2025.

There had been a lot of speculation amid Jericho’s hiatus about the former Undisputed WWE Champion potentially returning to WWE.

We recently received a clue about Jericho’s next move in AEW, with the former champion recently filing to trademark the term “The Cornerstone”.

This trademark filing suggests that this will be Jericho’s next wrestling nickname, following his recent run as the Learning Tree.

It seems like Jericho will be going in a similar direction to before, with the “Cornerstone” nickname indicating that he will once again be proclaiming that he is integral for AEW.

While some argued that they would’ve rather seen Jericho return to WWE under its current regime, it will be interesting to see how he integrates back into an AEW product already filled with top stars, in a company which no longer requires building from the ground up.
