Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair “pushed” for a match with a former champion according to a recent post by the ex-WWE star in question.
In February 2025, just under two years on from her final match in the company on March 12, 2023, former WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Carmella exited the company following the expiry of her contract.
While her initial absence was due to pregnancy, Carmella would also deal with health complications after she and husband Corey Graves’ first child together was born in November 2023 – with the 38-year-old previously speaking publicly about how drop foot delayed her intended return to the ring.
Despite recently teasing having an interest in a return to WWE via the-then vacant NXT General Manager role (now permanently filled by Robert Stone), Carmella has yet to make any appearances for a pro wrestling company since her departure, but she still often has exchanges with fans on social media regarding her time in WWE.
On March 27, a Twitter user shared a photo of an in-ring promo segment between Carmella, Bianca Belair and Becky Lynch from the July 18, 2022 episode of Raw, saying that fans “deserved” a triple-threat between the three stars.
In response, another fan tagged Carmella and asked her whether a three-way between herself, Lynch and Belair was ever planned to happen in WWE, which then caught the attention of the former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion.
While she confirmed that a three-way was never the plan, she said it was something that both Lynch and Belair “pushed for.”
Carmella wrote:
Never a plan. But I will say both Becky and B pushed for it.
Carmella, Becky Lynch & Bianca Belair’s Shared History
Becky Lynch and Bianca Belair became quite familiar with one another between SummerSlam 2021 and SummerSlam 2022, with the pair going back-and-forth over the WWE Raw Women’s Championship at both of those events, as well as WrestleMania 38 in between.
While their meetings for the title at both SummerSlams were strictly one-on-one affairs, Carmella was involved in the title picture at the time of both.
At SummerSlam 2021 Bianca Belair was scheduled to defend her title against Sasha Banks (Mercedes Moné) but due to Banks being unable to compete, Carmella stepped in as a replacement.
However, Banks’ replacement would then be replaced as well, as Becky Lynch made her return after an over year-long absence to challenge, and dethrone Belair in Las Vegas.
One year later, Carmella was involved in the title picture once again before Lynch and Belair eventually capped off their trilogy at SummerSlam 2022, with “The Princess of Staten Island” earning a count out win over Belair on the July 11 episode of WWE Raw, before losing to “The EST” the following week on the aforementioned July 18 Raw.
While they never had the big three-way for the WWE Raw Women’s Title like many fans expected, Lynch, Belair and Carmella would share the ring for what would prove to be the latter’s final match in WWE during a house show on March 12, 2023, as Lynch, Belair, Asuka, Candice LeRae & Nikki Cross teamed together to take on Carmella, Piper Niven & Damage CTRL (Bayley, Dakota Kai & IYO SKY).
