The backstage reaction to Finn Balor’s late kickout during the main event of this week’s WWE Raw has been revealed.
This past Monday’s WWE Raw was headlined by a clash between Finn Balor and familiar foe Seth Rollins, with the last remaining spot in the men’s Elimination Chamber match up for grabs.
The bout was eventually won by Rollins, who piled on the misery for Balor and The Judgment Day on a night where Balor’s stablemate Raquel Rodriguez also failed to qualify for the women’s Chamber match.
While Rollins and Balor delivered an exciting contest for the fans in Charlotte, NC, there was a misstep towards the finish of the match.
The moment in question saw Rollins deliver a Pedigree to Balor for a two count, however, the Irish star’s kickout noticeable came after referee Rod Zapata had already counted to three.
This led to confusion among the fans in attendance at the Spectrum Center and from Rollins who confronted Zapata after the pinfall attempt.
Despite the awkwardness of the moment, Fightful Select has reported that there were “no issues” after Balor’s late kickout, with officials backstage “happy with how the finish evolved”.
As a result of the win Rollins will face off with Drew McIntyre, Damian Priest, Logan Paul, CM Punk and John Cena on March 1 at the Elimination Chamber PLE.
