AEW star and former WWE star Andrade El Idolo

There has been a major update on Andrade El Idolo’s AEW status following his WWE release and non-compete clause.

It was announced back in September that Andrade had been released from WWE, with him initially believed to not be under a non-compete clause.

Andrade would make his return to AEW television on October 1, taking out Kenny Omega on the Dynamite anniversary show and joining the Don Callis Family, before he was then suddenly removed from AEW television.

It was reported after Andrade’s AEW return that Andrade had been released due to reported ‘multiple failed wellness policy violations’, with WWE firing Andrade ‘with cause’.

As such, it was reported that Andrade could have been out of action for up to one entire year, but a major development on Andrade’s status took place earlier today.

Andrade was announced for his return to New Japan Pro Wrestling earlier today, with him set to join United Empire at Wrestle Kingdom 20 against Bullet Club War Dogs, Hiromu Takahashi and Shingo Takagi, which led to speculation on Andrade’s non-compete status.

Now, in an update from Fightful Select (subscription required), Andrade is now eligible to sign with AEW after lawyers had negotiated an early exit from his WWE non-compete in the last couple of weeks.
