AJ Styles has named the WWE stars he would’ve loved to have had the opportunity to face ahead of retirement.
With the Phenomenal One stepping away from the ring after losing to GUNTHER at Royal Rumble, WWE held a retirement ceremony for AJ Styles on the February 23 Raw episode.
AJ Styles answered several questions about his career on Raw Recap: WWE Now, including whether there was anyone he wanted to work with ahead of his retirement match, but didn’t get a chance to.
Naming Penta and Chad Gable specifically, AJ Styles said:
“There are some guys I wanted to work with but didn’t have the chance to, but I worked with them, meaning I tagged with them.
“I would’ve liked to have been in there with Penta, to go back and forth. I would’ve loved to get back in the ring with Chad Gable.
“So many qualified wrestlers. The old-timers, we always say this – because I’m one of those guys now – ‘We would’ve had a great match with that kid.’ There’s so many of those guys here.”
