An AEW star has commented on the status of his ankle following reports that he suffered an injury last week.

Following Darby Allin’s forced withdrawal from this year’s AEW Continental Classic tournament due to injury, Jack Perry stepped in as his replacement in the Gold League.

Perry faced off against former Elite stablemate Kazuchika Okada in his first match in the C2, however, after the match there was concern that Perry had suffered an ankle injury whilst performing a suicide dive on “The Rainmaker”.

According to the Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez, Perry legitimately hurt his ankle doing the spot, but managed to work through the remainder of the match and thankfully was fine afterwards.

The December 20 episode of AEW Collision Holiday Bash saw Perry once again in action in the C2, this time taking on Speedball Mike Bailey.

After picking up his first win in the tournament, Perry brought up his ankle injury during an AEW social media exclusive interview, admitting that it “feels like s**t”.

Despite this, Perry spoke confidently about his chances in the tournament and looked ahead to his remaining matches with PAC and Kyle Fletcher:

“My ankle feels like s**t, my mouth tastes like Speedball’s toes, but all in all I’m pretty damn happy. Because I am finally on the board in the Continental Classic.

“That was three points right there, I got two more matches: PAC and Kyle Fletcher, and these guys are animals but one way or another I think I might just find a way to take this whole thing home.”
