While the 2026 Survivor Series event will once again feature WarGames, we will also see the return of the traditional five-on-five elimination match.
As was recently announced by Rey Mysterio, the November 28 premium live event will feature a Team USA vs Team Mexico Survivor Series match.
While all members of Team USA are to be announced, we know that AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio will “lead” Team Mexico.
While some “Survivor Series” matches have taken place on TV in the years since, we haven’t seen a traditional Survivor Series bout take place at its namesake pay-per-view in five years, not since Team Raw was victorious over Team SmackDown at Survivor Series 2021.
Here are the stories surrounding the three most recent traditional Survivor Series matches to take place at Survivor Series premium live events.
2021
2021 was the most recent year during which a traditional 5-on-5 elimination match took place at Survivor Series.
With wrestlers once again fighting for brand supremacy, this event saw Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, Austin Theory and Bobby Lashley pick up the victory for Team Raw.
This group was victorious over Sheamus, Drew McIntyre, Jeff Hardy, “Happy” Baron Corbin and “King” Xavier Woods following exactly 30 minutes of action.
Seth Rollins was the sole survivor for Team Raw, pinning Jeff Hardy to win the most recent traditional Survivor Series match to take place at the annual premium live event.
2020
2020 was an odd year for Survivor Series, which took place in the crowdless Thunder Dome during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Team Raw was also victorious on this occasion, with the Red brand’s side consisting of Braun Strowman, Keith Lee, Matt Riddle, Sheamus and AJ Styles.
The Blue brand’s side which came up short featured Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, “King” Baron Corbin, Jey Uso and Otis.
Team Raw won with a cleep sweep, not having a single star eliminated, with Keith Lee putting away Jey Uso to win the bout for his team.
2019
The Survivor Series match at the 2019 was an interesting one, with it being the only occasion that Team NXT was also added to the bout.
Team SmackDown was ultimately victorious, with many fans fondly remembering the final one-on-one showdown, with Roman Reigns battling Keith Lee.
Reigns ultimately picked up the victory, pinning Lee to bring the win home for himself, Braun Strowman, “King” Baron Corbin, Mustafa Ali and Chad Gable, with Keith Lee, Tommaso Ciampa, Damian Priest, Matt Riddle and WALTER (GUNTHER) ultimately coming up short.
Team Raw was eliminated first, with Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Randy Orton, Ricochet and Drew McIntyre hitting the showers early.
