Whether it be faction alignment or different turns, the landscape has been altered as the brand enters the summer season.

From new champions being crowned to new stars arriving, SmackDown will be looking very different as times moves on the road to SummerSlam this August.

Here are eight potential changes to the WWE SmackDown roster.

8. Jacob Fatu Stands On His Own Against Solo Sikoa & JC Mateo

At WWE Money in the Bank 2025, Jacob Fatu turned on Solo Sikoa to cost him the Men’s Money in the Bank ladder match.

This betrayal culminated months of dissension between the cousins and Fatu overhearing Sikoa talking trash about him.

Now that “The Samoan Werewolf” stands on his own, Solo and JC Mateo will have to regroup to go toe-to-toe with an angry United States Champion.

Fatu could become one of the biggest babyfaces on the SmackDown brand and going to war with his cousin will be one of the most prominent featured storylines on WWE TV throughout this summer.

7. Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa Return, While Hikuleo Debuts

NJPW star Hikuelo, said to be joining WWE's Bloodline

Following Jacob Fatu betraying Solo Sikoa, there is a lot that should be changing for the former Bloodline members moving forward.

Considering Solo just lost his lead lieutenant in his group, he should be looking to bring new members into the fold.

Recent reports have indicated that he could get that in the form of former NJPW star Hikuleo, who would be making his WWE debut after over a year to potentially join forces with Sikoa.

Meanwhile, Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa have been sidelined from in-ring action for the past few months and could be next to reunite with Solo’s faction on SmackDown.

On the June 9 edition of Monday Night Raw, the King and Queen of the Ring tournament began with four-way first round action.

Over on the SmackDown brand, the tournaments will continue with two more four-way matches.

Stars will be vying for an opportunity at the Undisputed WWE Championship and the WWE Women’s Championship respectively.

These tournaments will be a focus on SmackDown until the WWE Night of Champions 2025 show and will determine who gets a title shot at the two-night SummerSlam event in August.

At WWE Backlash 2025, John Cena defeated Randy Orton to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship.

In the weeks since this loss, Orton has been absent from WWE television until he was announced for the King of the Ring tournament.

Scheduled for a four-way first round match, “The Legend Killer” will face LA Knight, Aleister Black and Carmelo Hayes.

Looking at his opponents for this upcoming bout, Orton has to be considered the favourite to pick up the win and move on in the King of the Ring.

4. The Wyatt Sicks Continue To Target WWE Tag Team Championships

On the May 23 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, The Wyatt Sicks made their return and laid the entire tag team division to waste.

Uncle Howdy and company have been a threat to every duo on the blue brand since their comeback to the promotion.

The Wyatt Sicks potentially targeting the WWE Tag Team Championships feels like a strong possibility to bring gold to the faction for the first time.

Regardless of which combination of members team up, they should be a force that The Street Profits and any other tag team should be worried about moving forward.

3. Giulia Dethrones Zelina Vega For WWE Women’s United States Championship

Giulia has wasted no time making her mark on the SmackDown brand since being called to the main roster following WrestleMania 41.

In her first match on the blue brand, “The Beautiful Madness” pinned WWE Women’s United States Champion Zelina Vega to qualify for the Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match.

Since then, the former NXT Women’s Champion has made it no secret that she has her sights on winning her first title on the main roster from Vega.

After coming up short in the Women’s Money in the Bank, it should not be long before Giulia dethrones Zelina to be crowned the WWE Women’s United States Champion.

At WWE Money in the Bank 2025, Naomi defeated Rhea Ripley, Alexa Bliss, Giulia, Roxanne Perez and Stephanie Vaquer to win the women’s Money in the Bank ladder match.

Ever since WrestleMania 41, this newly unhinged Naomi has made it clear that she will stop at nothing to win the WWE Women’s Championship.

Feeling slighted by her past interactions with Tiffany Stratton, Ms. Money in the Bank has been stating how she will get revenge for Tiffy standing in her way in 2024.

Now that she has the prestigious contract and briefcase, Naomi will choose the most unpredictable moment to cash in and win the title at any point.

1. Cody Rhodes Looks To Win King of the Ring For Another Shot At John Cena’s Undisputed WWE Championship

At WWE Money in the Bank 2025, Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso defeated John Cena and Logan Paul in the main event.

To pick up the win, Rhodes scored a pinfall on Cena thanks to some timely assistance from the returning Ron “R-Truth” Killings.

However, this wasn’t enough for Cody to get a shot to regain the Undisputed WWE Championship from Cena and will now see “The American Nightmare” join the field for the King of the Ring tournament.

This tournament looks to be the best opportunity for Cody to get back into the title scene and stop Cena’s tyrannical quest to ruin wrestling at SummerSlam 2025.
