WWE wanted an AEW star to turn up on last night’s (October 10) WWE Raw, Triple H brought some other familiar faces back instead, more information on the MJF situation at Double or Nothing 2022, and more.
It’s Tuesday morning and the wrestling news is still coming in thick and fast, but don’t worry: we’re here to help guide you through it – this is our news bulletin for Tuesday, October 11, 2022.
WWE Wanted AEW Star for Raw
According to Fightful Select, WWE “at least threw around the idea of trying to get Billy Gunn” for the DX reunion on last night’s episode of WWE Raw, but it doesn’t look like that plan got very far, as the final line-up only included Shawn Michaels, Road Dogg, X Pac, and Triple H.
But that isn’t to say that the reunion itself didn’t still end up being a lot of fun. The episode opened with DX taking a possible jab at AEW in a rare cold open segment, in which the boys met up in Gorilla position and had some classic, crude 90s-style back-and-forth.
In the segment, Triple H told the other that he was “trying to run a business here” and that there was to be “no fighting.”

WWE Chief Content Officer Paul Levesque returned to his Triple H persona last night and had some fun with the rest of DX
Many online fans have taken the comments to be a jab at AEW, which has seen its fair share of backstage drama over the past few months.
DX also closed out the episode, where there were a few references to Daddy Ass himself. Corey Graves made an oblique reference to the former DX member, saying “that other guy is doing something with office equipment nowadays.”
Also, when Road Dogg did his half of the New Age Outlaws entrance, he held the mic to the crowd who added in Billy Gunn’s name.
More WWE Returns Under Triple H
While Gunn didn’t return to WWE last night, there were still a number of surprises in store for fans who tuned in.
During an in-ring segment, AJ Styles confronted the Judgment Day, admitting that they were right about him trying to confront them by himself, and saying that he needed backup.
Styles was then joined by former teammates Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson, who joined him in taking on the My Chemical Romance appreciation society.

It looks like a future six-man tag team match has been set up between The OC and Judgment Day
According to Fightful Select, WWE has been interested in the former Good Brothers for some time, showing a “very transparent” interest in the two while they were still with IMPACT.
Anderson’s contract situation may be more complex than previously anticipated, as he is still set for NJPW’s Battle Autumn in Osaka event on November 5, where he is due to face Hikuelo for the NEVER Openweight title, which Anderson still carries.
The OC weren’t the only big return on last night’s episode, as Brock Lesnar returned to attack Bobby Lashley before the latter’s WWE United States Championship match against Seth Rollins. Brock came out and hit Lashley with an F5, before taking him to Suplex City, and finally locking him into a vicious Kimura Lock.
The assault ended up costing Lashley the title, as Rollins was able to take advantage of his injuries and secure the win, becoming only the second ever two-time grand slam champion (after the Miz).

Until last night, Brock Lesnar had been absent from WWE since SummerSlam in late July
The episode revealed even more future comebacks, as a vignette was shown heralding the return of Elias on the October 17 episode of WWE Raw. The vignette did not give much away about the return, but indicated that Elias’s guitar playing and lights out gimmick would remain intact.
These returns come in addition to the previously noted Sarah Logan who looks to be back after this past Friday’s SmackDown where she appeared in a Viking Raiders vignette, and Bo Dallas who the Wrestling Observer reported is set to be back “very soon”, potentially in cahoots with his already-returned real-life brother Bray Wyatt.
Not everybody who was asked to come back did, though, as former announcer Renee Paquette was reportedly offered the chance to come back but turned it down. Paquette is instead expected to be joining AEW.
Truth About MJF Double Or Nothing Situation
More information about the MJF situation prior to AEW Double or Nothing in Las Vegas on May 29 has come to light.
In an interview with NotSamWrestling, MJF was asked why he missed the meet and greet, and gave his side of the story:
“My company lost $10,000 that day, and I say my company because they are employing me. For the time being. I did not go because my boss, at that time, was being a f***ing mark.
“If you don’t want to pay me what I’m worth, daddy does not show up to work. Daddy got the money. Daddy is back. Now me and Tony Khan are best friends. Tony Khan, great guy.
“When I stayed in said hotel room, they did a wellness check on me and the AEW security, this is a very true story, tried to break my door down. At the time, I had already left.
“They did the check, he literally went to kick my door down on a wellness check. That was everybody’s fear. ‘Is this MJF’s Brian Pillman moment?’ No, it was MJF trying to make what MJF deserves to be making.
“I have understood that there are some people who were really let down or offended. What I say to you is, ‘I don’t care, get over it. I’m happy now. If you’re a fan of me, you should be happy too because I’m stupid…I was rich before, but now I’m so rich I don’t even know what to do. If you want the fans to see me and experience me on any level, pay me what I’m worth.’
He did, and we’re cool.”
MJF refused to confirm whether or not he bought a plane ticket to potentially leave Las Vegas that weekend.

MJF has a guaranteed future AEW World Title shot, which is expected to take place at Full Gear
