Two WWE stars brought back their old theme song upon their return to the NXT brand on tonight’s episode of the show.
With WWE announcing an NXT Homecoming episode taking place in Full Sail University in two weeks time, many had speculated about former NXT stars that may appear on the show.
Ahead of tonight’s episode, TNA World Champion Trick Williams referred to himself as the ‘greatest NXT Superstar of all time’, challenging any other former stars to challenge that claim.
This would bring out Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa of DIY, who made their returns to NXT television using their original NXT theme song and wearing their original merchandise.
Both Gargano and Ciampa would question Trick’s claim as the greatest NXT Superstar of all time, which led to both men taking out Trick with the Meeting In The Middle.
Gargano’s wife Candice LeRae also made her return to NXT television on tonight’s show, with her picking up the victory over Xia Brookside in the WWE Speed Women’s Championship tournament.
Ciampa and Gargano are currently part of the SmackDown roster.
