A WWE star has admitted that his upcoming match is the start of his fight to keep his job with the company.
In 2018, English former rugby player Luke Menzies signed with WWE’s NXT roster before moving back to the UK to be part of the NXT UK brand, later being renamed Ridge Holland.
In 2020, he moved back to the US to join the main NXT roster, remaining on the brand until the 2021 WWE Draft when he was called up to SmackDown.
He debuted on SmackDown as a protege of Sheamus, soon being joined by Pete Dunne as Butch, forming the Brawling Brutes.
As part of the Brawling Brutes, Holland was featured in prominent positions such as the 2022 Survivor Series WarGames main event against Roman Reigns and the Bloodline.
However, in late 2023, when Sheamus was out for a number of months, Holland and Dunne broke up and Holland ended up moving back to NXT.
In NXT, he started a story of redemption that featured clear allusions to Big E’s neck injury from March 2022.
Despite his initial attempts to come off as remorseful, Holland instead cemented a heel turn by infiltrating Chase U and forcing the group to disband.
He soon went on to challenge Trick Williams for the NXT Championship at Deadline 2024, but didn’t really go on to do much else after that.
After several months of being completely absent from NXT TV and in-ring action since March 2025, he recently re-emerged at untelevised live events and Evolve with a new look and a new nickname as ‘The Steam Pig’.
Holland’s full return to action takes place on this week’s episode of Evolve tomorrow night in a match against Sean Legacy.
Ahead of the match, Holland has dubbed it the start of his fight to keep his job with WWE. He tweeted:
Tomorrow isn’t just another match, it’s the start of a fight for my livelihood, my job, a place in this company.
I’m desperate.
Back to the beginning…to my roots, to find a way forward.
RUGBY BRED. RING FED.
Sorry Sean
