As previously announced, Giovanni Vinci made his in-ring return on tonight’s September 6 episode of WWE SmackDown on FOX.
In April, Vinci was kicked out of Imperium by Ludwig Kaiser and was absent from WWE TV for several months.
He was then drafted to SmackDown, and after another couple of months of silence, videos started airing to hype up his return.
From the videos, it appeared Vinci was reverting back to the gimmick he used as a singles talent in NXT 2.0 after GUNTHER and Kaiser were initially called up without him.
Tonight on SmackDown, Vinci was officially back in action in a match against Apollo Crews.
It turns out it wasn’t for long though, as the match was over just a few seconds after the bell rang.
As Vinci was taking off his jacket, Crews simply rolled him up with a crucifix pin and got the three count.
Vinci’s entrance wasn’t quite as detailed as his NXT 2.0 one either, with a more generic sounding theme song, and no pauses and camera flashes. for the ‘Veni’ ‘Vidi’ ‘Vinci’ spots.
