Trick Williams Addresses Carmelo Hayes WWE Plans Following US Championship Loss

Trick Williams has addressed Carmelo Hayes’ WWE plans heading into WrestleMania 42, after Hayes’ US Championship loss.

Former NXT tag partners and rivals Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes crossed paths on the March 27 SmackDown episode, with a title change and WrestleMania match announcement taking place.

With Hayes defending his US Championship against Sami Zayn, Trick Williams’ interference ultimately led to Zayn winning the title.

Following Hayes’ title loss, WWE announced that Zayn will defend the gold against Williams at WrestleMania 42.

Speaking on Mornings with Mero, Trick Williams noted that he believes Carmelo Hayes still deserves his moment.

When asked how he feels about not facing Carmelo Hayes at WrestleMania, Trick Williams said:

“Me and Melo, we go way back of course and I would love to see him get his moment, and he deserves that.

“And you never know he probably still will. He carried that US Title great, so he deserves that moment, I’m sure he’s gonna get his moment.”

With Williams’ involvement in the match resulting in a title change, it has been heavily speculated that Hayes will be added to the US Championship match set for WrestleMania 42.

With Hayes putting in the work, successfully defending the US Title eight times on SmackDown since winning the gold in December 2025, if anyone deserves to compete in a US Championship match at WrestleMania, it’s H1m.

Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams last shared the ring on the February 20 SmackDown episode, with Williams defeating Hayes and Damian Priest to qualify for that month’s Elimination Chamber match.
