A title change has officially taken place on today’s episode of WWE Evolve, with a champion being dethroned in his last match on the show.
WWE Evolve has kicked off its new season after airing for one year, with some of its top talents making the move to the NXT roster.
Last week, Kendal Grey retained her Evolve Women’s Championship against PJ Vasa, but then immediately vacated the title to move to NXT.
This week, it was the turn of the men’s champion, Jackson Drake, as he put the Evolve Title on the line against Aaron Rourke.
It was Rourke who picked up the win, making him the new WWE Evolve Champion.
Drake had been champion since the June 4, 2025 episode of Evolve, where he won an elimination four-way match also featuring Keanu Carver, Edris Enofe and Sean Legacy to become the first holder of the title.
Along with fellow Vanity Project members Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes, Drake was recently promoted from a WWE ID contract to a full-time NXT contract, joining the NXT roster on a full-time basis.
They have been appearing on NXT TV weekly since then, with Baylor and Smokes recently winning the NXT Tag Team Championship.
Drake featured in the NXT Championship seven-man ladder match after Oba Femi vacated the title, which was ultimately won by Joe Hendry.
Last night, the three members of Vanity Project lost a six-man tag team match on NXT against El Grande Americano and Los Americanos.
Is Jackson Drake A Potential Top WWE Star
Now that he’s moving on from Evolve, the question is how far Jackson Drake can go in NXT and WWE.
During his time on Evolve and NXT, Drake has proven to have the potential to move on to become a bigger star in NXT and potentially the WWE main roster as well.
While he hasn’t had enough high-profile outings to determine whether he could be one of the biggest names in the company, there’s no doubt that he’s had standout performances, including in last night’s match against Los Americanos, where he really shone the most out of all six men involved.
Hopefully the next few years in NXT will supply Drake with the rest of the skills and experience he needs to make another leap forward to being a top tier talent on the roster.
