The real reason WWE Raw’s start time is changing in September has now been revealed courtesy of a new backstage report.

Prior to this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw in Birmingham, England, it was reported that the September 15, 22 and 29 editions of Raw would feature an earlier start time of 7pm ET.

According to WrestleVotes, the change is an experimental one decided upon by WWE and Netflix, and motivated by the return of the NFL’s Monday Night Football.

The following was said on the latest WrestleVotes Radio regarding WWE and Netflix’s plan:

“Monday night, Raw will have a special start time of 7pm Eastern for a few weeks this upcoming September, specifically on the 15th, 22nd, and 29th.

“According to a source, this decision was made some time ago as WWE and Netflix want to see how the show performs with an earlier start-up against Monday Night Football.”

WrestleVotes noted that with the change, Raw main events should end “before the crunch time in the NFL action”, potentially preventing a loss of viewers for WWE.

As of now the change is just set to be made for the three shows in question, but we will provide further updates if any further alterations to WWE Raw’s start time are made.
