New Star Joining WWE SmackDown

Share

A match for WWE SmackDown’s ‘newest acquisition’ has been set as the ‘new superstar’ will face off against Carmelo Hayes.

On last night’s WWE SmackDown, there were several Raw stars on the show as news of the upcoming ‘transfer window’ was revealed.

The news was first mentioned when Chad Gable interrupted an in-ring segment from Cody Rhodes, noting that “the transfer window is about to open”.

Gable and American Made (Brutus & Julius Creed, Ivy Nile) weren’t the only Raw stars who were spotted talking with SmackDown GM Nick Aldis about a potential move to the blue brand.

Backstage segments also captured Aldis chatting with Dominik Mysterio as well as WWE World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER.

However when Carmelo Hayes walked up and questioned Aldis as to why he had time for “all these Raw guys,” but not him, Hayes captured himself a match.

Nick Aldis would tell Carmelo Hayes that he had someone special in mind for him next week.

The title of WWE’s official YouTube video of the segment specifically refers to Hayes’ opponent as a “new superstar” as well as the description for the video saying that Hayes will be facing “SmackDown’s newest acquisition,” next week.

At this point, it’s unclear exactly what that phrasing means, and whether it could be an entirely new WWE signing, a call-up from NXT, or just someone joining SmackDown from Raw, but the wording of “a new superstar” did pique a lot of fans’ interest.
