The status of GUNTHER for the 2026 WWE Royal Rumble match has been confirmed during the official Countdown show for the event.
With the Rumble just a couple of hours away, Michael Cole, Big E, Wade Barrett and WWE World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk hosted the Countdown show on WWE’s social media channels.
Among the news coming out of the Countdown show was clarification on GUNTHER’s status.
For the past couple of weeks, WWE hadn’t made it 100% clear whether GUNTHER would be in the Rumble match in addition to his singles match against AJ Styles.
Even just yesterday, CM Punk said on the Kickoff show that GUNTHER wouldn’t be in the Rumble, but then Michael Cole said during the same Kickoff show that he would be.
Full clarification has now come courtesy of the Countdown show, as Punk clarified that he misspoke yesterday and GUNTHER is, in fact, in the Rumble match today.
Michael Cole agreed, so they are on the same page after yesterday.
GUNTHER’s match against AJ Styles sees Styles put his career on the line.
