A former WWE star has made his return during tonight’s September 9 episode of NXT, ahead of a likely role at next week’s Homecoming show.
Tonight’s NXT played host to a flag match between Canada’s NXT North American Champion Ethan Page and USA’s Tavion Heights.
It was Heights who picked up the win, but a bigger story unfolded after the match.
While Heights was celebrating, the theme music of former NXT and WWE star Tyler Breeze played as he made his was to ringside.
Breeze then got in the ring and took a selfie with Page, who was still down after the match with Heights.
Breeze was one of the original NXT stars, starting off as Mike Dalton but soon rebranding to the more memorable and recognizable character of Tyler Breeze.
After a run on the main roster, Breeze ended up back in NXT a few years later and became NXT Tag Team Champion with Fandango as Breezango.
Breeze was released from WWE in June 2021, but has maintained a role within the company, reportedly under contract for his work on the UpUpDownDown gaming YouTube channel, and also becoming a writer for NXT.
With next week’s NXT Homecoming episode, which takes place at the show’s original home of Full Sail where Breeze first made his name in the early years of NXT, it appears he’s set for a match against Page at that show based on what happened tonight.
