Ethan Page as Intercontinental Champion on Raw

After losing the instant classic mask vs. mask match to El Grande Americano back at Noche de los Grandes, Chad Gable has a wave of renewed momentum following the end of the Original El Grande Americano.

Gable’s momentum rode right into SummerSlam in his hometown of Minneapolis this year, where he finally captured his first singles title of his WWE career, defeating Penta for the Intercontinental Championship.

Since winning the title, Gable has gone on an incredible run with the gold, defending against all comers such as Dragon Lee, Rey Mysterio and Rey Fenix.

Ethan Page wins Intercontinental Championship

Since his arrival on Raw following WrestleMania 42, Ethan Page has had his eyes on the Intercontinental Championship, coming up short several times chasing Penta for the gold.

Page has renewed his focus on the title in recent weeks, accusing Chad Gable of giving opportunities to more ‘undeserving’ wrestlers than him, which led to a tag team match last week, where Chad Gable seemingly suffered an injury.

That led into tonight’s match, where Page took advantage of Gable’s injury, using an exposed turnbuckle to pick up the win and capture the Intercontinental Championship, his first title of his main roster career.

Gable’s run with the title came to an end at 92 days.

Chad Gable’s future following shocking CM Punk victory

During his run as Intercontinental Champion, Chad Gable was arguably the best part of Monday Night Raw on the weeks when he would defend the title, with his match catalogue in 2026 rivalling anyone else’s on the main roster.

Last week, WWE held a match between CM Punk and Chad Gable at a live event, which saw Gable pick up the shocking win over Punk, a move done by design to help create more ‘viral moments’ at WWE live events to help boost ticket sales.

While what happens on a live event, outside of the occasional title change, isn’t necessarily considered canon to the show, Gable being chosen to be the man to beat Punk should be a good sign for his future following his title run.

Gable is set to be in action on Wednesday night’s stacked episode of WWE NXT, where he will team with Dragon Lee and Rey Fenix against the Vanity Project’s Jackson Drake, Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes.
