AEW Blood & Guts: Late change made as Persephone & Queen Aminata are added to Women’s match

AEW has announced a late change to next week’s Blood & Guts episode of Dynamite, with two names being added to the match.

AEW held it’s Fright Night Dynamite episode of AEW Dynamite this past week, which was headlined by a TBS Championship match as Queen Aminata challenged Persephone for the gold.

Aminata ended up picking up the win in the match, winning her first title in her AEW career.

Queen Aminata & Persephone added to Blood & Guts

On tonight’s episode of AEW Collision, a promo aired recorded by Persephone and Britt Baker following Persephone’s defeat in the main event of Dynamite.

During the segment, Persephone sent a warning to Aminata that she wanted to get back her title.

However, she also noted that the two teams for this year’s Women’s Blood & Guts match were currently unfinished, with one spot remaining on both side, and challenged Aminata to join her in the match next week.

Tony Khan has since confirmed the change, with Persephone now joining the team of Divine Dominion and the Triangle of Madness, while Queen Aminata joins the Brawling Birds, Wrathlander and Willow Nightingale.

Different promotions, same thrown together build

At this time of year, both WWE and AEW are building to their respective versions of War Games, with WWE starting their build for Survivor Series in recent weeks on television.

However, despite the two promotions being different, one thing they have in common this year is the seeming lack of care and interest in building up the women’s matches.

AEW’s match this year largely features the same names that featured in the match last year in a story that is basically non-existent on Dynamite.

In WWE, the exact same issues are taking place, as the company’s only way to drum up interest in the Women’s Blood & Guts match is to run the exact same angle with Tiffany Stratton and the Judgment Day coming out of Money In The Bank.

Both matches are sure to be great, as they are both stacked with talented women, but the build to both Blood & Guts and Survivor Series War Games this year show that there is seemingly still no interest in giving the big women’s stories in either company the same effort and time that the men’s matches get.
